What Your Favourite Love, Actually Storyline Says About You

Following the roaring success* of our “What your favourite Christmas film says about you” post (*two likes on Twitter), today we’re here with a sister post that dives a little deeper into the real festive litmus test of your personality: which Love, Actually storyline you are.

Love, Actually expertly weaves nine separate love stories of all kinds together into one big narrative, telling them more or less simultaneously. But, most people have a preferred storyline – and what does that favourite say about you?

So, by running this in the order in which they’re introduced in the film, here’s what your favourite Love, Actually storyline says about you:

Billy Mack & Joe

Sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll baby! You’re jaded when it comes to romantic love, but the platonic kind means something more to you, and you’re content with that, actually.

Jamie & Aurélia

You are a romantic who has had their heart broken too many times & aches to find that person who speaks their language.

Daniel & Sam

Undeniably the most wholesome storyline of the film, if Daniel and Sam navigating new life as a Stepfather and Stepson clouded in grief is your favourite storyline, then you’re someone who has been through dark times and prevails through it with the support of those closest to you. Or you’re Ringo Starr.

Karen & Harry (& Mia)

You are a woman who feels pain. Deep, harrowing pain. Mothers and eldest daughters, this one is yours. We’d like to add that if you in any way relate to/empathise with Harry, go to therapy. Karens, probably also go to therapy, but we love you!

Colin Frizzle

If you’re a guy: this is a red flag

If you’re a girl: have you admitted you’re bisexual yet?

Everyone else: you’re a sleazy horn bag

(It’s worth noting at this point that as a child, Blueprint writer Maddy had a crush on Colin Frizzle and is now in fact, bisexual)

John/ Jack & Just Judy

You’re either horny, but the weird kind of tumblr freak horny; or a cheeky wine mum who watches this film every year with a glass of wine in hand from her grey crushed velvet sofa giggling about how “naughty” it all is. You’re maybe both.

Mark, Juliet & Peter

You love a romance trope, and depending on what side of this love triangle you’re on (either Juliet or Mark, nobody cares about Peter) you’re either the traditional piner, or the person who cherishes love in all its forms. How’s your taste in pie?

Prime Minister & Natalie

Maybe you just love Hugh Grant, maybe you have a bit of a thing for an authority figure? Or maybe you’ve been harbouring a deep crush on a colleague and you’re constantly looking for your coat.

Sarah, her brother & Karl

You’ve always put yourself last and let the needs of those you love rule your life, because you’re a lovely person and want them to be happy. You’re a caretaker who longs to be taken care of for once.

Once again we were right on the money, even if you don’t want to admit it. There’s no better way to be psychoanalysed than using this roster of characters that we love and (sometimes) judge every single Christmas.

Merry Christmas to everyone from us at The Blueprint, we hope you have a lovely holiday and we will see you in 2024 for more chaos and fun from us.
